I’m often asked whether fly tying is difficult.

My answer is usually that no, it isn’t—but if you’re just starting out, it’s best to begin with the basics. Get yourself a vise, a bobbin, good scissors, and some glue, along with the materials needed for the specific fly you want to tie.

Start small, keep it simple, and build from there.
